Kitchen Science Fun: FAQ’s

Q: Is the pre-mission lesson plan necessary for the e-Lab?

A: It is highly recommended that you conduct the pre-mission lesson plans so that students receive the most they can out of the e-lab.

Q: If I have a class size of 32, can I still conduct an e-Lab with all of my class involved?

A: Yes, the additional students could be distributed to teams; however if there are more than 32 students we would ask that you separate the students into two e-Labs so that everyone can enjoy the full experience.

Q: If I have a class size of less than 25 can I still conduct the e-Lab?

A: Yes, we will need five teams to conduct the e-Lab. The teams will be adjusted to have fewer students.

Q: Do all students require the printable materials for the e-Lab?

A: Yes. All students require the sense-ational Journal for the actual e-Lab.

Q: Other than the printable materials, are there materials that are mandatory for the e-Lab?

A: Yes, for the hands on experiment you will need at a minimum of one large, glass baby food jar per student or up to one large baby food jar per team of two students. You will also need a container of whipping cream and tasting spoons. You will need about a 1/2 of the baby food jar filled with whipping cream that has been left out of the refrigerator for 12 hours. A loaf of bread is also recommended, but not mandatory. If using bread, provide enough for each student to have a portion to go along with their experiment.
