WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) – Wheeling middle schoolers have had the chance to experience fun and educational STEM activities at one local university thanks to a $10,000 grant from the HESS FAMILY FOUNDATION.
The “Help Enrich Someone Special” or H.E.S.S. Program is a ten-week program starting in February, where Wheeling University students serve as mentors for Wheeling Middle Schoolers in different activities each Wednesday.
This week, the Challenger Learning Center helped provided activities where students and mentors acted as a medical team, treating patients from the time of a hypothetical disaster, all the way to the hospital.
